The country's first Mitsukoshi Mall has officially opened its doors. The mall, which is the oldest in Japan with a history spanning 350 years, found its new home in Bonifacio Global City in Taguig last Friday, July 21.

Guest of honor Vice President and Education Secretary Sara Duterte recognized the importance of the partnership between Filipinos and Japanese in business.

"This partnership, which demonstrated their aggressiveness, optimism, and love of country, inspires Filipino pride," said Duterte.

The Mitsukoshi BGC is not only the first mall of the Japanese company in the Philippines, but it is also the first one established outside their country in South East Asia.

Filipino businessmen from Federal Land, Incorporated and its holding company GT Capital Holdings partnered with Japanese companies Nomura Real Estate Development Corporation and Isetan Mitsukoshi Holdings to establish the Mitsukoshi mall under their joint venture company, Sunshine Fort North Bonifacio Realty Development Corporation.
