Tomorrow, April 30, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) predicts that the heat index in Metro Manila will reach 44 degrees Celsius.
In response to the extreme heat and the transport strike by jeepney operators and drivers, members of PISTON, the Department of Education (DepEd) has cancelled face-to-face classes in public schools tomorrow through to Tuesday.
DepEd has ordered the implementation of asynchronous classes or distance learning nationwide for the mentioned two days.
Teachers and other staff of public schools nationwide have also been allowed to stay at home.
Private schools are not included in DepEd's order, however, their administrators may implement similar orders if they wish.
