The government-run "No Hunger" Kitchen food bank will be open this December 30 and 31, 2024.
It will only close on January 1, 2025.
Irene Dumlao, spokesperson for the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), stated that those in need are free to obtain their food at the "No Hunger" Kitchen located in Pasay City.
The food bank can be found in the Nasdake Building on FB Harrison and Williams Street, Barangay 13, Pasay City.
The "No Hunger" Kitchen aims to assist those experiencing hunger and reduce food waste by accepting surplus food donations from restaurants, hotels, fast food chains, and private organizations.
Dumlao reassured that these foods are clean and not leftovers. Some of the items they receive are not yet cooked, so the DSWD is responsible for preparing the meals.
She also added that the food supply here is continuous as their donors have committed to unceasingly provide donations.
The DSWD plans to expand the "No Hunger" Kitchen to various areas across the country in the coming year.
They are targeting areas with a high population of street dwellers.
