The northeast monsoon season, also known as Amihan, began yesterday, Tuesday, November 19, 2024.

Over the next two weeks, there will be an increase in northeasterly wind surges which will result in a rise in atmospheric pressure and a cooling of surface air temperatures in the Philippines, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

The Amihan wind usually originates from a strong high pressure area in Siberia.

PAGASA warns that the seas will be rough, especially along the coastal areas of Luzon.

Meanwhile, PAGASA said that they have not detected any weather disturbances since the departure of Typhoon Pepito from the country.
