This follows President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr.'s declaration of November 4 as a Day of National Mourning, in memory of those lost due to the onslaught of Tropical Storm Kristine, which led to the deaths of 150 individuals, according to a report released by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) last Thursday.
Several others remain missing, and the lives of seven million people in the country have been affected.
Based on Proclamation 728 released by Malacañang on October 30, 2024, everyone is encouraged to remember and pray for the victims of Tropical Storm Kristine.
"The nation deeply mourns this tragic loss, and joins the families and loved ones of our departed brothers and sisters in this moment of immense sorrow. Now, therefore, I, Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr., President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by the Constitution and existing laws, do hereby declare November 4, 2024, as a Day of National Mourning, in solidarity with the bereaved families and loved ones of those who perished due to the devastation brought by Severe Tropical Storm Kristine," according to the proclamation signed by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin.
