The CAB stated in a recent announcement that they have set the cargo fuel surcharge at Level 4 from October 1 to 31, 2024, down from the current Level 5.
The fuel surcharge is an additional fee added to the base fare that airlines can pass on to passengers to recoup costs due to fluctuating jet fuel prices. The CAB periodically adjusts the fuel surcharges based on the movements in jet fuel prices.
Under Level 4, the passenger fuel surcharge will range from P117 to P342 for domestic flights, depending on distance, while international flights originating from the Philippines will have a fuel surcharge ranging from P385.70 to P2,867.82.
This marks the first time this year that the fuel surcharge has been reduced to Level 4. As of September, it remains at Level 5, with domestic flights having a fuel surcharge of P151 to P542, and international flights having a surcharge ranging from P498.03 to P3,703.11.
Airlines wishing to collect fuel surcharges must first apply to the CAB before implementing them on October 1, 2024.
