More than 100 out-of-school youths (OSY) in Taguig City have learned additional knowledge from a recently conducted training entitled "Skills for Success: Out-of-School Youth Training."
A formal graduation ceremony was held at the New City Hall Convention Center on August 19, 2024.
The training, organized by the Taguig Manpower Training and Assessment Center and the Youth Council, imparted additional skills to over 100 OSY in Basic Bread Making, Basic Pastry Making, Preparation and Serving of Coffee Beverages, 5S Lean Workplace and Good Housekeeping, and Installation of House Wiring Systems.
Graduates were provided with starter kits for them to use in their businesses or in starting their livelihoods after learning various aspects of skills. They were also given certification of completion.
Taguig Councilor Jomil Serna stated that the initiative is proof of the dedication of the city government of Taguig to provide livelihood for the OSY and to meet the needs of various industries in Taguig.
"We ensure that every youth has access to these opportunities because we believe in Taguig that the success of the youth is the success of our nation," said the councilor.
The graduates expressed their gratitude for the new knowledge they acquired. According to one of the graduates of the house wiring system skill, Angeline Garduque, the things they learned will serve as a foundation for their further self-development, for a brighter future.
