The Central Bank of the Philippines (BSP) has collected over P1 billion in coins from deposits made in its coin deposit machines since the project's launch in June last year.

As of the latest tally on October 11, 2024, the coin deposit machines have collected P1,008,889.49 in coins, marking a success for the project aimed at recirculating the citizens' hidden coins back into the economy, and promoting cashless transactions.

Following this success, BSP plans to deploy an additional 25 coin deposit machines in various parts of the country next year.

The coins deposited in the machines can be transferred to citizens' e-wallet accounts or bank accounts, or can be exchanged for shopping vouchers.

BSP reminds the public that taped coins, those with writings or mutilations are not accepted, and the e-accounts or bank accounts for transfer must be active.
