Two women were arrested by personnel from the Southern Police District Drug Enforcement Unit (SPD DEU) after they were found in possession of suspected shabu (methamphetamine) worth ₱3 million in Barangay Rizal, Taguig City, in the early hours of August 15, 2024.

The SPD DEU conducted a buy-bust operation at around 1:15 in the morning, during which the two suspects, known by the aliases Arianne, 37, and Joann, 19, were arrested.

The two had previously been arrested for violating Sections 5 and 11 of Article II of Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

The authorities confiscated six plastic containers of suspected shabu weighing 450 grams, with an estimated value of ₱3,060,000.00.

Along with the illegal substances, ₱1,000.00 in marked money used for the transaction, 19 pieces of boodle money, an Android phone, and a black container were also seized.

The evidence has been handed over to the SPD Forensic Unit for laboratory examination.

The suspects will face new charges for violations of sections 5 and 11 under Article II of RA 9165 at the Taguig City Prosecutor's Office.
