Si Siytangco ay isang mamamahayag bago naging bahagi ng pamahalaang Aquino. Ayon sa kanyang sinulat na column sa Manila Bulletin noong 2018, inalok siya upang maging assistant secretary for media.
"I took a cut in pay and had no representation funds. All goodwill. I survived mainly because my idol, President Cory, was a joy to work with. She was honest, disciplined, and a no-frills leader. I did not have to lie for her, ever. When talking in her behalf, I vetted everything to her and the hardest thing I had to do was politely turn down numerous requests for interviews, especially from foreign media. My lady boss would tell me, 'We are not running for public office.' And that meant, no more interviews. But she also understood how important her pronouncements meant to the people and she would give in and meet the press when I would literally beg."
Si Siytangco ay binawian ng buhay dahil sa septic shock bunga ng pneumonia, ayon sa pahayag ng kanyang anak na si Sandee Siytangco Masigan sa Facebook account nito. Mayroon din itong urothelial cancer, hypertension at hypothyroidism.
Nakiusap si Sandee sa mga makikiramay na magbigay na lamang ng donasyon sa Contemplative Brothers of Mary Mother for the Poor, o kung magbibigay ng bulaklak ay mga sunflowers na lamang ang ipadala dahil ito ang paborito ng kanyang ina.
Ang labi ni Siytangco ay nasa Heritage Memorial park sa Taguig City hanggang sa Martes, Oktubre 3, ng alas 10:00 ng umaga.
Ihihimlay si Siytangco sa Our Lady of Dela Strada Parish sa Quezon City sa Martes makaraa ang isang Misa.
