The Philippine National Police (PNP) takes pride in the heroic act of Taguig police trainee, August David, Jr., who saved a nearly drowning young girl in Taytay, Rizal, on October 6, 2023.

PNP Chief Police General Benjamin Acorda, Jr. expressed joy over David's action, who is currently training to be an officer under the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO). David fearlessly jumped from the Barkadahan Bridge to save the 14-year-old girl from the river.

"David's unwavering dedication to the safety and well-being of our fellow citizens exemplifies the values upheld by the PNP. His immediate and fearless response to this life-threatening situation manifests his commitment to serve and protect, even at the risk of his own life."

"We salute PT August David for his exceptional bravery and audacity in the face of danger. His actions embody the very essence of selfless service and sacrifice, qualities intrinsic to the mission of the PNP," according to Acorda.

Acorda further added that David's courage and selfless service should be emulated. "It is with great pride that the PNP has a dedicated public servant like PT David, who is willing to sacrifice for the safety and protection of our fellow countrymen. He is truly worthy of praise and serves as an epitome of selflessness and unwavering commitment to duty."

Acorda encourages other police officers to emulate the bravery and selflessness demonstrated by David.

David, a resident of Barangay Katuparan, Taguig City, happened to be passing by the Barkadahan Bridge in a jeepney when he noticed a commotion on the bridge.

He immediately got off the jeepney, and upon seeing the drowning girl, he promptly jumped into the river to save her.

The girl is currently in stable condition after being brought to the Taytay Emergency Hospital.
