According to Senate spokesperson Arnel Bañas, the man who worked as a kitchen staff of the Philippine Navy had entered the New Senate Building construction site on July 25, 2024, around 9:00 PM, just as the workers were leaving for the day.

He was allegedly accompanied by another person who was chasing after him, as well as the security guards of the building under construction. However, they were unable to locate the man, even after reviewing the CCTV footage.

He was discovered dead at around 10:00 PM after allegedly jumping from the north tower of the Senate building under construction.

"The Senate is taking this matter very seriously. We extend our full support to the ongoing investigation to determine the actual circumstances surrounding this tragic incident," Bañas declared. He also mentioned that Senate President Francis Escudero has ordered an immediate investigation into the incident and a review of the guidelines at the New Senate Building construction site.
