A police officer and two other individuals were taken into custody in an entrapment operation in Taguig City after they were found to be involved in the illegal sale of firearms.

In an operation conducted by the Southern Police District (SPD) Special Operations Unit on Acacia Street in Barangay Cembo, Taguig City, on July 2, 2024, at 3:40 in the afternoon, a police agent posed as a buyer of firearms from a woman known as Bobby Lewis, aged 28.

An informer reported the illegal activities of Bobby Lewis and her associates in Makati City and Taguig City to the police.

When the illegal firearms for sale were produced, the SPD Special Operations Unit arrested Bobby Lewis, a man known as John, aged 34, and a police officer known as Gary, also aged 34.

Gary, the police officer, upon verification, was found to have been previously arrested in 2021 on a charge of Alarm and Scandal.

From the suspects, the authorities confiscated a Rifle Defense M16 First SAMCO Modified Color with the serial number RP122190 containing 30 live ammunition, a Glock 17 Gen 4 with the serial number AFP058637 bearing an AFP logo and 17 live ammunition, an Arms Moravia Czech Republic with the serial number 613319 containing 10 live ammunition, a tennis bag used in the transaction, a Yamaha NMAX motorcycle without a plate number, three mobile phones of the arrested suspects, and a PNP Identification Card in the name of Gary.

Also confiscated were two ₱1,000.00 bills found on top of the boodle money used in the transaction.

The arrested suspects and the evidence were brought to the Special Operations Unit Office of the SPD for documentation and for filing charges of violation against Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
