The shooting witnessed by Castro, which she reported during the 13th Public Committee Hearing of the House Quad Committee, actually took place on Makati Avenue, Makati City, as confirmed by her driver, Jeffrey Atun.
The Taguig City Government has urged the House Deputy Minority Leader to issue a clarification on the incident to avoid confusion and ensure accurate reporting, particularly as this pertains to public safety.
"Taguig City is committed to ensuring peace and security in all areas under its jurisdiction," stated the Taguig City Government.
Meanwhile, the chief of Makati City Police and a substation commander have been removed from their posts due to the alleged shooting while Castro was stuck in traffic.
Congresswoman Castro expressed concern for her personal safety and that of the public when two police officers emerged from their patrol car after a man on a motorcycle approached them.
Castro reported that one of the police officers suddenly fired his gun amidst the traffic and numerous bystanders.
The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) has assured that they will look into the details of the incident and hold all those involved accountable.
