The city government of Taguig has denied allegations that they disregarded the closure of day care centers in the EMBO (enlisted men's barrio) barangays, which Makati claims they had previously warned them about.

Taguig officials have stated it is untrue they received any warning, and that they have long requested a discussion on the transition of the day care centers, but received no response from Makati.

"In fact, as early as November 2023, Taguig's City Social Welfare Development Office (CSWDO) had requested a meeting with their counterparts in Makati's office to discuss the transition, which would be led by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD). However, Makati's CSWDO repeatedly avoided the requested meeting, claiming that a court writ of execution needed to be released first. Taguig's CSWDO even sent a letter to DSWD-NCR seeking assistance in arranging a meeting. But due to Makati's unwillingness to cooperate, the meeting did not take place. The result: the day care centers were abruptly closed," Taguig's official statement reads.

Taguig believes that Makati is sabotaging the transition because they have yet to accept their defeat in the jurisdiction case over the EMBO barangays, which was decided by the Supreme Court in favor of Taguig last year.

"The needs of the EMBO residents in terms of health, education, and other public services are being addressed with a genuine concern. The residents of EMBO are delighted to receive and experience the positive changes", the statement from the city government of Taguig concludes.
