The Satellite Voter's Registration at the Taguig City Jail Male Dormitory was successfully held yesterday, August 19, 2024, to grant Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL) their right to vote in the upcoming 2025 elections.
Family members of the PDL as well as staff from the Taguig City Jail Male Dormitory were also able to register as voters.
The registration was led by Taguig City Jail warden Jail Superintendent Richard Kho, assisted by deputy warden Jail Inspector Rolan Darum and Atty. Edgar Feliciano Aringay, the chief Election Officer from the Commission on Elections (Comelec) - Taguig.
"The satellite registration of this facility was more than paperwork, it was a testament to resilience, compassion, and the belief that every voice matters, even within prison walls," stated the management of Taguig City Jail.
Meanwhile, today, August 20, 2024, Comelec-Taguig will be at Metro Manila District Jail 2, 4, and 5 for the Satellite Voter's Registration.
Comelec-Taguig also announced they will not be conducting operations on August 22, 23, and 24, 2024, due to a team building and Gender and Development seminar. Their operations will resume at the Vista Mall Parking Building Office of Comelec-Taguig on August 26, 2024.
On August 21, 2024, Comelec-Taguig will head to the Armed Forces of the Philippines Officers Village Association in Barangay Western Bicutan, for Satellite Voter's Registration there.
