Nearly 1,000 soldiers from the Philippine Army have been deployed to the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) in preparation for the upcoming Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) scheduled for October 30, 2023.

At the send-off ceremony hosted at Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City, Army Commanding General Lt. Gen. Roy M. Galido underscored the critical role of the Army troops in the approaching election, to "practice the right of suffrage as well as to ensure the safe, orderly, and peaceful conduct of elections."

Galido also underscored the need for the troops to further strengthen their security measures and collaboration with the Philippine National Police (PNP) and other government security forces.

The soldiers were transported to Mindanao by aircraft from the Philippine Airforce.

Government security forces will be assisting Commission on Elections personnel, poll deputies, and other government staff involved in the election.
