According to the National Alliance for Filipino Concerns (Nafcon), a Filipino immigrant organization, many Filipino caregivers are in evacuation centers along with the elderly they care for.

Reportedly, these caregivers are forced to purchase supplies for those they care for using their own money.

Nafcon has criticized the government's lack of preparedness for this disaster.

"Government officials were told to act proactively and prepare residents against possible natural calamities leading up to the fires, but preparations fell short and were outmatched by the supercharged winds. These conditions were exacerbated by the inadequate and delayed responses to the situation," said the organization.

An estimated five people have died, and many animals in the wild and even pets have not survived the fires that are ravaging parts of California.

The fires in Palisades, between Santa Monica and Malibu, as well as the fire near Eaton to the east close to Pasadena, are among the most severe fires witnessed in the history of Los Angeles.

Runyon Canyon in the Hollywood Hills also burned, where the homes of Hollywood stars such as Mandy Moore, Paris Hilton, and Billy Crystal were among those destroyed.
