Park Seul Ki, 33, was apprehended at his residence in a subdivision in Parañaque City by operatives of the BI's fugitive search unit.

The BI had issued a deportation warrant against Park as early as 2017 due to his illegal stay in the country. It was discovered that he entered the Philippines in 2016 and had not left since. In addition, it was long ago that the South Korean government cancelled his passport.

"He had continuously eluded arrest for the past seven years since he fled to the Philippines to avoid prosecution for his crime. Finally, the long arm of the law has caught him and we will send him back to Korea so he could answer the charges filed against him," said BI Commissioner Norman Tansingco.

According to a report from the Interpol National Central Bureau in Manila, Park also has an arrest warrant from the central prosecutor's office in Seoul and the Hong Sung District court for fraud, which violates the telecommunications business act of South Korea.

Park is allegedly a member of a syndicate that carries out voice phishing to victimize others. He is said to pose as a government investigator to obtain victims' personal information, which they use in their criminal activities.
