The Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) has suspended the monthly payments for homes financed through government financial agencies.
DHSUD Secretary Jose Rizalino Acuzar has ordered key shelter agencies (KSAs) to implement a moratorium on the monthly amortization of houses taken by their members as aid for those affected by Typhoon Kristine.
According to Acuzar, the KSAs will be responsible for implementing the directive. The agencies covered by the order include the Home Development Mutual Fund or Pag-IBIG Fund, National Housing Authority (NHA), Social Housing Finance Corporation (SHFC), and the National Home Mortgage Finance Corporation (NHMFC).
"This is a small assistance that we in the DHSUD could provide to the typhoon victims. We hope that this will somehow alleviate what they are now facing," Acuzar said.
DHSUD will also provide P30, 000 in unconditional cash assistance to families whose houses have been completely destroyed by the typhoon, and P10, 000 for those partially damaged.
DHSUD is coordinating with local government units to identify the families that will qualify for this assistance, which will be included in the Integrated Disaster Shelter Assistance Program (IDSAP) of the department.
