The local government of Taguig City has ordered the temporary closure of Makati Park and Garden in Barangay West Rembo, Taguig, on grounds of unauthorized operation.

Today, March 3, tarpaulins declaring the decree of Taguig City can be seen displayed.

The city government stated that the closure is in line with the authority of the local government unit under the Local Government Code, Supreme Court decisions, and local ordinances that confer authority to the local government to regulate any business, trade, or activity within its territory by issuing a mayor's permit after the applicant has submitted the necessary documents and paid the appropriate fees and charges.

It was found out that Makati Garden and Park does not have such permits from Taguig City Hall.

Taguig City revealed that Makati Park and Garden had previously been closed to the public and used only as a garage for heavy equipment and a dumping ground for various items such as Christmas trees and lanterns.

Taguig emphasized that it falls within their jurisdiction and has the right to manage and operate it as a public facility.
