The lanterns along the main streets of Taguig City were simultaneously illuminated on November 20, marking the start of Christmas celebrations in the provincial city.
The lanterns shine brightly at night along Cayetano Boulevard, Heritage Park, Bayani Road, Cloverleaf Ecopark, Gate 3, DOST, and General Santos Avenue.
Taguig City Mayor Lani Cayetano led the lantern lighting ceremony at Cayetano Boulevard.
The lanterns are equipped with photocell sensors to save on electricity.
"Here in Taguig City, we say 'Christmas in Taguig is Love'. First, it's the love of God for humanity. Next, it's the love of Taguig City's government for its constituents. During the holiday season, it's important for us to bring joy and happiness to our Taguig City families," Cayetano stated.
Lanterns also adorn the streets from Barangay Bagumbayan to Barangay Napindan, Manuel L. Quezon Street in Barangay Bagumbayan, and the main roads in other barangays in the city.
The lanterns will remain hanging and lit until February 10, 2024, or the celebration of the Chinese New Year.
