The establishment coincides with the start of the birthday cash gift distribution for senior citizens of the EMBO barangays, with the ceremonial kick-off taking place at the Clean Project Car Hub, Sampaguita Street Barangay Pembo, Taguig City yesterday at 9 AM.
The one-stop shop volunteer center on Sampaguita Street, Barangay Pembo, will serve senior citizens not included in the initial list of senior citizen beneficiaries from the EMBO barangays compiled by the city government of Taguig.
The one-stop shop is also open to those with queries or applications for Taguig's social services such as medical assistance, burial assistance, benefits for disabled citizens, and questions related to scholarships for students.
The city government of Taguig also provides hotline numbers for inquiries: 0966-170-3025, 0926-661-2230, and 0926-661-2234 for Globe users; and 0962-057-9590, and 0950-356-1320 for Smart users.
Senior citizens who attended the kick-off ceremony have received their birthday cash gifts, attended personally by Taguig City Mayor Lani Cayetano. Staff from the Barangay Affairs Office (BAO) will go house-to-house in the residences of senior citizens in EMBO to distribute the cash gift of P3,000 for those aged 60 to 69. Four thousand pesos will be given to those aged 70 to 79. Individuals aged 80 to 89 will receive P5,000. And those aged 90 to 99 will receive P10,000.
Once a senior citizen in the EMBO barangay reaches the age of 100, they will receive P100,000 and will continue to receive this amount for each subsequent birthday.
Guillermo Perez Jr., 72 years old from Barangay South Cembo, thanked the city government of Taguig for his cash gift worth P4,000. "It's wonderful that you deliver our cash gifts to our homes. Thank you very much."
Adela Miranda, 86 years old from Barangay Post Proper Southside, received her birthday cash gift of P5,000 for the first time. "Thank you very much, now I received something on my birthday. I will use this to buy rice and our meals."
Mayor Cayetano stated that they have so far identified 271 senior citizens in the EMBO barangays as no data has been turned over to their senior citizen database in Makati. They were only able to compile an initial list from community leaders of the EMBO barangays who helped them. This was verified from the list of social pension beneficiaries in these barangays.
"Even though our data collection is done manually, we did not delay the distribution of the birthday cash gifts to our senior citizens," said Cayetano in her speech in front of the senior citizens who attended the kick-off ceremony at Barangay Pembo.
