Taguig's para athletes clinched 16 medals at the recently held 8th Philippine National Para Games at the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex in Manila and the PhilSports Arena in Pasig.
Over 900 athletes from across the nation participated in the competition, which took place from November 11 to 15, 2024.
Taguig's para athletes secured three gold medals, along with seven silver and six bronze across various events.
Kenneth Namisato won a gold medal in the Para Chess Rapid Event and a silver in the Para Chess Blitz Event. Marilou Lucero also claimed gold in the Chess Standard Event and silver in the Chess Rapid Event.
Menandro Redor emerged as a silver medalist in the Chess Blitz Event, while Jeanlee Nacita won a bronze in the same game.
Jovilyn Ringor bagged bronze medals for the Chess Blitz Event and Chess Standard Event, as did Elena Peligro for the Chess Standard Event.
In the team event for Para Chess Rapid, Jovilyn Ringor and Jeanlee Nacita nabbed gold.
Menandro Redor, Melchor Pizarro, and Karl Ian Pindug scored silver in the Para Chess Blitz Team event.
Edgar Mamaclay claimed a silver medal in the para swimming 100 meter butterfly stroke.
Francis Sasutona won a bronze medal in badminton.
Adrian Huldago secured a silver medal in athletics - shot put and discus throw.
Taguig's Para wheelchair basketball team also brought home a bronze medal.
Supporting Taguig's para athletes were Taguig Rehab Medicine Doctor, Dr. Noel Napa, and physical therapists from the Taguig Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Unit, led by Zarah Claire Cuenca and Christine Cabardo.
