The city government of Taguig has granted permission to tricycle operators from Pasig to transport passengers from Pasig to selected drop-off points in Taguig.
The agreement or memorandum of understanding concerning the Tricycle Operators and Drivers Association (TODA) from Pasig and Taguig was signed on July 20, 2023, by Taguig Mayor Lani Cayetano and Pasig Mayor Vico Sotto.
The signing took place at the boundary of Taguig and Pasig, at T. Rayos Street in Taguig and Visitacion Street in Pasig.
The purpose of this agreement is to avoid passengers needing to transfer between tricycles in the two cities, thus preventing them from paying double fares.
Tricycles from Pasig may drop off passengers at locations including Taguig City Hall, Barangay Ususan, Napindan, Tipas, Tuktukan, and Bambang.
Taguig tricycles, on the other hand, can transport passengers to Pasig at Barangay Buting, Immaculate Conception Cathedral Parish, Kalawaan, Pasig-Mega Market and Meralco-Sagad.
However, TODA in Taguig will not be allowed to pick up passengers within Pasig and the same applies to TODA of Pasig within Taguig.
"This only proves that when local governments help each other, it becomes better for the people we serve," Sotto said.
"Just like Mayor Vico, we are thankful for this excellent example of local government collaboration. Indeed, through calm conversations and coordination, differences can be unified, can't they? Disagreements, when discussed, can be resolved," Cayetano commented.
