The Philippines brought home medals through the students of Taguig City in the RoboWorld Cup 2023 of the Federation of International Sports Association (FIRA), held in Wolfenbuttel, Germany from July 17 to 21.
George Lean Tizon, a student from Taguig, bagged the gold medal in the individual awards for the Cliffhanger Heavyweight Category, and a silver medal for the Mission Impossible United Countries event.
Gilleene Jazz Luyun won two silver medals for the Cliffhanger Heavyweight category and Mission Impossible United Countries, and a bronze medal in the Cliffhanger All-round Heavyweight category.
Another Taguig student, George Angelo Tizon, brought home two silver medals for the Mission Impossible United Countries and Cliffhanger All-round Heavyweight category, along with a bronze medal in the Cliffhanger Heavyweight category.
The entire Cayetano Science Robotics Team, representing the Philippines, won a silver medal in the Cliffhanger Missions Heavyweight category.
Each delegate was challenged to build their own robots on-site using scrap materials from junk shops during the competition. The robots were then set against each other in sumo-wrestling type matches, wherein the robot which pushed its opponent out of the arena won.
In a statement by the Taguig City government, they honored the bright students who are part of the Cayetano Science Robotics Team.
The team expressed their gratitude to the Senator Renato "Compañero" Cayetano Memorial Science and Technology High School, Data Science and Technology Corporation, and the city government of Taguig City, including their parents and teachers, for their support.
