Tension is in the air as the new security agencies appointed by the City of Taguig are set to take over the supervision and management of security at 14 public schools in 10 "Embo" barangays today, August 12.
Dr. Cynthia Ayles, the Officer-in-Charge of the Office of the Schools Division Superintendent, has issued an order to Best Security, Incorporated and Best Arms Security Agency, Incorporated to assign the requisite number of security guards to watch over additional public schools starting from August 12, 2023, at noon.
The city government of Makati, through Arnold Magpantay, City General Services Officer, resisted this move. Magpantay issued a memo to Jaime Dimaano of Greatstar Security Services, Incorporated, the agency hired by Makati City to guard the 14 public schools.
Magpantay instructed Dimaano to prevent any personnel from the City of Taguig from entering the 14 affected public schools without written permission from the city government of Makati.
According to Magpantay, the supposed takeover by new security agencies from Taguig was planned without coordination with the city government of Makati.
"You are instructed to implement strict security measures and safeguard the property by not allowing personnel from Taguig City to enter the school premises without written consent from the City Government of Makati," according to Magpantay's order.
The schools affected by the transition of Embo barangays from Makati to Taguig include the Fort Bonifacio Elementary School, Cembo Elementary School, South Cembo Elementary School, Pitogo Elementary School, East Rembo Elementary School, Rizal Elementary School, Comembo Elementary School, West Rembo Elementary School, Pembo Elementary School, Makati Science High School, Benigno S. Aquino High School, Tibagan High School, Fort Bonifacio High School, and Pitogo High School.
This is in connection with the Supreme Court decision to award the territory encompassing ten barangays previously under Makati: Cembo, Comembo, Pembo, East Rembo, West Rembo, South Cembo, Pitogo, Post Proper Northside, Post Proper Southside, and Rizal to Taguig.
