Talented senior citizens from Taguig City showcased their skills in a dancing and impersonation competition as part of the Grandparents Day celebration at Lakeshore Hall, Barangay Lower Bicutan, Taguig City last September 12, 2024.

Thirty pairs of senior citizens participated in the Dance Sport 2024 competition held on the morning of September 12, where Didi Provost and Arnulfo Agustin from Barangay Bambang emerged as champions, winning a cash prize of 20,000 pesos.

The first runner-up were Annie Garcia and Pancho Certeza from Barangay Lower Bicutan, earning a reward of 16,000 pesos; second runner-up were Josephine Arceo and Virgilio Vergara from Barangay Pitogo with prize money of 12,000 pesos; the third runner-up were Dionisia Erencio and Avelino Claudio from Barangay Wawa who received 8,000 pesos; the fourth runner-up were Ma. Eleanor Encarnacion and Virgilio Calaque from Barangay South Signal winning a prize of 5,000 pesos; and finally, the fifth runner-up were Josephine Cruz and Andarnulfo Castillo from Barangay Pembo who were given a reward of 4,000 pesos.

In the afternoon, the "Kayang-kaya, Gayang-gaya: The Ageless Talent Show" took place, where the seniors impersonated their favorite celebrities.

Here, the champion was Charito De Leon from Barangay Ususan, who impersonated Madonna, and won 20,000 pesos; the first runner-up was Ma. Levy Canaria from Barangay Wawa, earning a cash prize of 15,000 pesos; the second runner-up was Anita Gime from Barangay Western Bicutan, taking home 10,000 pesos; the third runner-up was Estrelita Garcia from Barangay Lower Bicutan, receiving 8,000 pesos; and the fourth runner-up was Berlin Bunyi from Barangay Ibayo Tipas, winning a cash prize of 6,000 pesos.

The Office of the Senior Citizen Affairs, in cooperation with the Taguig Association of Senior Citizens, initiated the event, which was attended by about 600 senior citizens.

Taguig City Mayor Lani Cayetano said the celebration demonstrated that the senior citizens of Taguig are still skilled and energetic.

"This is more than just a presentation, this is more than just a competition. Many senior citizens in our city and across the country, when they see you still very active, still very energetic in showing your talents, you inspire many," Cayetano said.

Each of the winners also received a certificate and plaque. Those who did not win were each given a consolation prize of 3,000 pesos.
