"This is a farewell for now, but not forever. We will return, better than you recall and beyond what you could envision. Until we close on January 1st, feel free to hang out at The Strip as you always have! We'll see you there."

This is a post on the social media page of BGC - Bonifacio Global City regarding the announcement that The Fort Strip, located at the corner of 5th Avenue and 26th Street, will be closing. The Fort Strip, which has been a hub of nightlife, dining and entertainment in BGC, Taguig City for decades, is set to shut its doors.

There is no official statement from BGC concerning the future of the current Fort Strip site or whether a similar location will be established within BGC.

Some online users suspect a redevelopment of the area, similar to what will happen to the area where Market!Market! is located, which is also slated to close.

Before the towering buildings of BGC were built, The Fort Strip was already there. It was where popular restaurants and bars like Pier One, Prince of Jaipur, Embassy, Cold Rock, Big Boy Mondo, Puccini and Amber Ultra Lounge started.

In an article by blogger Anglaagan, he reminisced about the early days of The Fort when it was only a small hangout spot located in an area that was just grassland.

"One of our old favorites back then on this strip is a restaurant called Zong. They have a sort of "Chinese fusion" theme and menu, and they were a big thing when they first opened. I still remember back then when me and a group of workmates would drive all the way from Ayala Ave. to the middle of The Fort, during lunch, just to eat at Zong."

Nick Hernandez reflected that the early days of The Fort Strip were the "golden age of clubbing."

According to Toshi Koshimizu, "before BGC became BGC, The Fort was already there, when there was nothing but grass and empty plots of land. The Fort was a silent witness to how BGC became what it is today - a cosmopolitan business district with gleaming skyscrapers and glitzy shopping malls."
