Three illegal foreigners were recently arrested at the Bureau of Immigration (BI) office in Intramuros, Manila.

The two fugitives and one long-term overstayer were taken to the BI Detention Facility in Camp Bagong Diwa, Bicutan, Taguig City after presenting their new passports at the BI office in Intramuros.

On August 2, 2024, 25-year-old Song Tiancheng was arrested after being identified as a wanted criminal in China for contract forgery. He presented his new passport and travel documents to the BI, intending to update his latest entry details from his old passport.

While the BI was checking Song's details, it was discovered that he had a pending deportation case, having been reported by Chinese authorities regarding his ongoing case in China.

On August 6, 2024, 51-year-old Taiwanese Tu En Cheng was arrested after it was discovered that he had been ordered to leave the Philippines since 2020. Tu had escaped his home country due to fraud charges and had informed the BI about his case.

On August 7, 2024, a 39-year-old Chinese woman identified as Dong Baolian was arrested by the BI at their main office in Manila, as she was also wanted in China for fraud.

It is said that Dong is a member of a company that developed an application they used to scam their victims, amounting to 1.54 million Chinese yuan.
