Taguig City was awarded two major recognitions at the Creative Cities and Municipalities Congress, held at the Fiesta Pavilion of the Manila Hotel last night, August 23, 2024.

Taguig City was recognized as the Top 1 Most Improved Highly Urbanized City in the Philippines. Additionally, it was awarded the Top 1 Most Competitive in the Economic Dynamism Pillar among the highly urbanized cities in the country.

According to a statement from the city government of Taguig, these recognitions reflect the city's continuous efforts to promote creativity and meaningful changes, in addition to maintaining a favorable business environment, expanding industries, and increasing job creation.

Meanwhile, Quezon City won as the Overall Most Competitive Highly Urbanized City in the country. Manila secured the second place, while Pasay City landed in the third spot.

Pangasinan Congressman Christopher De Venecia, the principal author of the Philippine Creative Industries Development Act (Republic Act 11904), said that the goal of the law is to position the Philippines as the leading creative economy in the ASEAN region by 2030.

"Indeed, creative cities and municipalities are the linchpins of this ambitious goal. By investing in creative infrastructure and fostering an environment conducive to artistic expression, localities become sources of inspiration. Simply stated, by investing in the creative industries, we invest in the very foundations of our future," said De Venecia.

The Creative Cities and Municipalities Congress is an initiative led by the Department of Trade and Industry aimed at promoting creativity, culture, and changes in local governments throughout the Philippines.
