Here is an update on Typhoon Julian (international name: Krathon) as of 11:00 am, September 30, 2024:

Typhoon Julian is likely to intensify into a super typhoon later this afternoon or evening.

The tropical cyclone, Julian, has passed close to Sabtang Island, Batanes.

The wind speeds it carries are at 175 kilometers per hour near the center, with gusts of up to 240 kilometers per hour. Its central pressure is measured at 940 hPa.

It is moving slowly, at about 10 kilometers per hour, heading north-northwest, where the typhoon's wind radius extends to 580 kilometers.

At present, Signal Number 4 is raised over:
Batanes and northern Babuyan Islands (Babuyan Is., Calayan Is.)

Signal Number 3 is raised over the remaining parts of Babuyan Islands and the northeastern part of Cagayan (Santa Ana).

Signal Number 2 is raised over:
Other parts of Cagayan, Apayao, Abra, Kalinga, Ilocos Norte, and in the northern and central parts of Ilocos Sur (Sinait, Cabugao)

Signal Number 1 is raised over:
The remaining parts of Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, Ifugao, Mountain Province, Benguet, Isabela, Nueva Vizcaya, Quirino, Aurora, the northern and eastern parts of Nueva Ecija (Cuyapo, Rizal, Laur, Pantabangan, Science City of Muñoz, Gabaldon, Carranglan, San Jose City, Lupao, Talugtug, Bongabon, Llanera, Talavera, Palayan City, General Mamerto Natividad), and in the Polillo Islands.

Typhoon Julian is expected to move west, northwest through the Bashi Channel today and will turn tomorrow, October 1, 2024, heading towards the southeast coast of Taiwan where it is estimated to make landfall on Wednesday, October 2.

It is expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility by Thursday.
