Typhoon Leon maintains its strength while circling the Philippine Sea.

According to the most recent report from the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) at 10:00 PM on October 28, 2024, the center of Severe Tropical Storm Leon is located 705 kilometers east of Echague, Isabela (16.8°N, 128.3°E).

Its wind strength is around 100 kilometers per hour near the center, with gusts reaching up to 125 kilometers per hour. The storm is slowly moving west.

The breadth of its wind reaches up to 620 kilometers from the center.

Tropical Wind Cyclone Number 1 is now raised over:
Batanes, Cagayan including the Babuyan Islands, Isabela, Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya, Apayao, Kalinga, Abra, Mountain Province, Ifugao, the northern portion of Benguet (Bakun, Kibungan, Atok, Bokod, Mankayan, Buguias, Kabayan), Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, Aurora, the northern part of Quezon including the Polillo Islands (General Nakar, Infanta, Real), Camarines Norte, eastern part of Camarines Sur (Tinambac, Siruma, Goa, Lagonoy, San Jose, Garchitorena, Caramoan, Presentacion, Tigaon, Calabanga, Saglay), Catanduanes, eastern part of Albay (Rapu-Rapu, Bacacay, City of Tabaco, Tiwi, Malilipot, Malinao, Santo Domingo, Manito), and the northern part of Sorsogon (Prieto Diaz, City of Sorsogon, Gubat).

Also in the Visayas region where the storm affects the eastern part of Northern Samar (San Roque, Pambujan, Catubig, Laoang, Palapag, Gamay, Lapinig, Mapanas, Mondragon) and the northern part of Eastern Samar (Jipapad, Arteche, Oras, San Policarpo).

The following places are expected to experience heavy wind and rain on these dates:
• October 28: Visayas and most of CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, Bicol Region, Northern Mindanao, and Caraga Region.
• October 29: Zambales, Bataan, Aurora, Metro Manila, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, Bicol Region, Visayas, Dinagat Islands, Surigao del Norte, and Camiguin.
• October 30: Zambales, Bataan, Aurora, Metro Manila, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, Bicol Region, Dinagat Islands, and most of Visayas and Central Luzon.

Typhoon Leon is expected to move west-northwest until this afternoon, October 29, and to make landfall in Taiwan on Thursday, October 31. It is expected to fully exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Friday morning or afternoon.

If it moves west, it could also make landfall or approach Batanes.
