Typhoon Nika has weakened from a full-fledged typhoon to a severe tropical storm and is currently over the waters of Ilocos Sur.
The center of Typhoon Nika was spotted last night at 7:00 over the waters of Magsingal, Ilocos Sur (17.7°N, 120.3°E).
The storm carries winds of up to 110 kilometers per hour near the center and gusts of up to 185 kilometers per hour. It is moving north-west at a speed of 20 kilometers per hour. Its wind radius extends 340 kilometers from the center.
The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) is also closely monitoring two other storms, which will be named Ofel and Pepito if they enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility.
Signal Number 3 is raised in the following areas: Southern parts of Apayao (Conner, Kabugao), Abra, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Ifugao, Northern parts of Benguet (Buguias, Mankayan, Bakun), western Ilocos Norte (Laoag City, Sarrat, San Nicolas, Piddig, Marcos, Nueva Era, Dingras, Bacarra, Solsona, Paoay, Currimao, Pinili, Badoc, City of Batac, Banna), and Ilocos Sur.
Signal Number 2 is raised in the following areas: Southern Cagayan (Iguig, Alcala, Amulung, Santo Niño, Lasam, Santa Praxedes, Claveria, Sanchez-Mira, Pamplona, Abulug, Allacapan, Ballesteros, Aparri, Camalaniugan, Enrile, Tuguegarao City, Solana, Tuao, Piat, Rizal), Eastern Isabela (Santo Tomas, Alicia, San Mateo, Aurora, Santa Maria, Quezon, Ramon, Roxas, Luna, Delfin Albano, City of Santiago, Reina Mercedes, San Manuel, Cabatuan, Quirino, San Isidro, Mallig, Burgos, Cordon, Cabagan), Northern Quirino (Diffun, Cabarroguis, Saguday), Northern Nueva Vizcaya (Bambang, Kayapa, Santa Fe, Aritao, Quezon, Bayombong, Ambaguio, Solano, Bagabag, Diadi, Villaverde, Dupax del Sur, Dupax del Norte, Kasibu), La Union, remaining parts of Ilocos Norte, remaining parts of Apayao, remaining parts of Benguet.
Signal Number 1 is raised in: Pangasinan, remaining parts of Cagayan including Babuyan Islands, remaining parts of Isabela, remaining parts of Quirino, remaining parts of Nueva Vizcaya, Tarlac, northern and central parts of Zambales (Santa Cruz, Candelaria, Masinloc, Palauig, Iba, Botolan, Cabangan), Nueva Ecija, and Aurora.
Typhoon Nika is expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility through the West Philippine Sea Tuesday morning, November 12.
