Typhoon Ofel is set to temporarily exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), specifically in the northwestern part of PAR, this afternoon. However, it will re-enter the PAR region after crossing the sea west of Batanes tomorrow, November 16, 2024.
Despite its departure from PAR this afternoon, the typhoon's wind signals remain raised over the northern top of Luzon. It will bring rains and strong winds from the Luzon Strait to the sea east of Taiwan, where Typhoon Ofel will weaken and eventually turn into a low-pressure area.
As of 10:00 AM today, Typhoon Ofel was located 215 kilometers northwest of Calayan, Cagayan, or 195 kilometers west of Itbayat, Batanes. It carries winds of 110 kilometers per hour and gusts of up to 135 kilometers per hour. It is moving at a speed of 20 kilometers per hour.
Signal Number 2 is raised in Batanes. Signal Number 1, on the other hand, is hoisted in the northern part of Cagayan (including Pamplona, Claveria, Abulug, Sanchez-Mira, Santa Praxedes, Ballesteros), the Babuyan Islands, the northern part of Apayao (including Luna, Santa Marcela, Calanasan), and the northern part of Ilocos Norte (including Pagudpud, Adams, Bangui, Dumalneg, Burgos, Pasuquin, Vintar, Bacarra, Piddig, Carasi).
