The entirety of The Fort Strip closed on January 1, 2025, with only a few establishments planning to relocate their businesses elsewhere.
However, the future for several small businesses remains uncertain.
The Mediterranean restaurant My Falafel is planning to move to the Venice Grand Canal Mall in McKinley Hill by February, according to its team leader Jerome Rado.
However, they will be out of work for a month while the relocation is processed, on top of dealing with increased rent.
Other establishments will need more than a month to relocate. Some will even close down permanently.
These businesses hoped for an extension for The Fort Strip's closure, but it did not materialize.
According to Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Secretary Bienvenido Laguesma, they will discuss the circumstances of the affected employees with the establishments involved.
