In a social media post accompanying a picture of her crying, she stated that no One-Time Password (OTP) was sent, so there were no warnings of someone withdrawing two thousand pesos at a time from her GCash account earlier today.

"Earlier, 14k was gone from our account, No OTP sent to us. No warning at all. I believe this is an inside job based on how easily they accessed everybody's account. Hundreds of people have experienced this today. Already reported it using the app and will try calling helpdesk later," according to Pokwang.

Meanwhile, a businessman reported losing ₱32,000 without clicking on any link:
"Lost 32k while sleeping, calling out GCash, Today Nov. 9, 2024 around 5:42AM my Gcash Account was debited by 32,000 with all Ang Pao Transaction that I did not authorize. It was an unauthorized transaction, and within just minutes lost almost all the money in my gcash account. I already submitted a ticket and have yet to call their gcash hotline because they only accept calls from 8am-5pm. This is a warning to pull out all your money now in your gcash account."
