Nearly four hours after a strong earthquake in Southern Leyte, yet another quake, this time reaching a magnitude of 6.1, was experienced in Siocon, Zamboanga del Norte at 11:41 AM, January 23, 2025.

Local officials of Zamboanga City and other parts of the Zamboanga Peninsula ordered the cancellation of afternoon classes following the strong tremor felt at Intensity IV in Zamboanga City.
The earthquake's depth was recorded at 32 kilometers, and due to its intensity, people were compelled to flee buildings.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported the earthquake as tectonic in origin.
Authorities are still assessing if there have been any injuries or damage from the quake, similar to the situation earlier at 7:39 AM in San Francisco, Southern Leyte, which was hit by a 5.9 magnitude earthquake.
